Castellaro Lagusello, one of the most beautiful small villages in Italy, stands on a hill among the morainic hills of Garda and a small heart-shape lake nearby Mantua. The marvellous buildings of this small village are the Parish Church and the Castle; the Castle was built around 1100 and 1200 on a natural hill north of the small lake. It belonged to Scaligeri and later to Visconti, Gonzaga and in 1600 it was given from the Serene Republic of Venice to the Earls Arrighi who allocated it as seigneurial residence. Among the products and tastes, typical of the small village, there are the Registered Designation of Origin wines Tocai and Merlot, the homemade salami and "Capunsei", a kind of gnocchi.
